The Nerdery - Overnight Website Challenge

Chicago 2011, August 20-21

Southwest Chicago PADS

We help homeless persons and those at-risk of becoming homeless since 1993. We provide a welcoming home to those who seek shelter. We offer food, shower, clothing and toiletries. Most saliently we provide intensive case management to secure jobs, housing and a sustainable lifestyle.

What new functionality we are looking for

Have you seen our website? It's not functional at all. We don't have a CMS or a design program, and I am not fluent in HTML, maybe like HTML 101.

I want the new website to inform the public about services we provide, show our donors what their dollars have done and give hope to those who are at the brink of homelessness or are homeless.

I'd like for the website to have a database to capture information, have forms available to print, a photo gallery, some flash would be nice! Just a whole ne feel!

How the new functionality will help

First it will save me a lot of time that has been taken away from my fundraising work.

A new website will show our donors and potential donors the impact we have made on Chicago's Southwest Side.

A new website will give us a fresh start, a new beginning: our founder has retired and executive director has been replaced all within a year. It would be great to create new buzz, new energy to generate new cash!

Our Mission

A community endeavor which valued the dignity, uniqueness, goodness, and giftedness of all persons, Southwest Chicago PADS is impelled to feed the hungry and serve the poor. We seek to: • Provide emergency shelter, food, clothing and referrals for additional assistance to persons who are homeless. •Prevent homelessness in our community by providing immediate assistance and referrals to those facing a housing crisis. •Educate the wider community about the plight of people who are homeless.
